Students

Internships are an integral part of your career preparation, enabling you to explore the best fit between academics and professional goals. Internships provide a taste of the real world through hands-on projects supervised by individuals with expertise in a given area, and look great on your resume.

The Career Resource Center and the Credit-Bearing Internship Program work together to develop internship opportunities for School of Management students. Both programs share the online BizLink recruiting system.

Quick Facts

  • Internships can occur in the fall, spring or summer and can be paid or unpaid.
  • All unpaid internships must be registered for academic credit.
  • Students participating in paid internships may also earn academic credit; some may be required to do so based upon work authorization or degree requirements.
  • Students earning academic credit for summer internships pay tuition, the same as if enrolled in a course. Fall and spring internships are simply rolled up into the cost for full-time tuition unless exceeding 19 credit hours.
  • We're happy to review internships you have found through personal contacts for academic credit.

Where to Begin

  • Search strategies and online resources are available under Search for Internships.
  • Students requesting credit for participation in an internship will work with the Credit-Bearing Internship Program.

Credit-Bearing Internship Program

Last year more than 250 students earned academic credit for participation in paid and unpaid internships. Graduate students, seniors and highly qualified juniors in the School of Management may use our program. Upon acceptance, students gain the following:

  • Ability to apply to internship postings in BizLink
  • Potential to earn three elective credits for 150 hours internship participation

  • Internships are focused on actual projects related to your concentration

  • Potential for formal recognition during our annual Internship Awards Reception
  • Opportunities for paid and unpaid internships

  • CBIP support available throughout your internship experience
