Background
Before joining academia in fall 1998, Dr. Talukdar had worked as a business strategy and public policy expert in both private and public sector multinational organizations. His primary research and teaching interests lie with quantitative modeling and empirical analyses of business strategy as well as public policy issues related to the provision of both "private" and "public" goods to consumers. The substantive areas of his current research include retail market dynamics, consumer and firm behaviors under information uncertainty, impact of the Internet on such behaviors, new product diffusion process, socio-economic development and the environment in developing countries, and urban poverty issues.
Dr. Talukdar is the recipient of several research awards including "Outstanding Graduate Thesis Award" at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and "Young Investigator - Exceptional Scholar Award" at University at Buffalo. His research works have been presented and published in various international conferences and leading journals in the economic development and business management, including World Development, Urban Studies, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research and Marketing Science. They continue to be widely cited (over 350 times in the SSCI and over 1,000 times in the Google Scholar databases) in leading international journals by other scholars from a wide spectrum of academic areas like economics and public policy, marketing, management science, computer information system, law and public health. They have been also cited numerous times in various international, national and local media outlets including the AP News, ABC News, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Atlantic Monthly, and The Buffalo News.
