The following are brief descriptions of the undergraduate scholarship opportunities available to juniors and seniors in the School of Management. Each fall semester, various scholarships are awarded to junior and senior School of Management majors.
If you would like to be considered for one of the awards, please complete the online application materials and be sure to include the scholarship or scholarships for which you would like to be considered.Please do not apply for any scholarship for which you do not meet the application criteria.
A completed application must include the scholarship/s for which you would like consideration, the online application, an electronic résumé and an electronic one page written statement explaining why you should be considered. (Although you may ask to be considered for more than one scholarship if you meet the criteria, a student may not be awarded more than one scholarship from the School of Management in any given year.)
Please note that if you did not file a FAFSA application, you cannot apply for a scholarship that requires demonstration of financial need.
To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, a student must be at least a junior enrolled full-time for the subsequent semester in School of Management 300 or 400 level courses and must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.5.
If you are a new fall transfer student, you must also submit an updated transcript that includes your grades from the spring semester.

The Challen Family Scholarship
Multiple Awards - Awards will be based on academic merit and financial need. Recipient must be a Western New York native. Made available by the generous bequest of Bruce Challen '30, deceased 1993.
Hsinchun Chen and Hsaio-Hui Chow Scholarship
Awarded annually to two Management Information Systems students in financial need. Established in 2010 by Dr. Hsinchun Chen, MBA ’85 and Dr. Hsiao-Hui Chow, PhD ’89 (School of Pharmacy). Read more
Michael J. Christopher Scholarship
Awarded annually to one student - Award will be based on academic merit and financial need. It is the preference of the donor that the awardee be a western New York native who is a non-traditional student. Made available by the generous gift of Michael J. Christopher.
John G. and Elizabeth Gibbons Scholarship
Multiple Awards - Awards will be based on academic merit. Made available by the generous bequest of John G. Gibbons '31, deceased 1987, and his wife, Elizabeth, deceased 1994.
Charles W. Pearson Scholarship
Awarded annually to one or two students - Award will be based on academic merit and financial need. Established in 1977 by the generous bequest of Charles W. Pearson and subsequent donations from family, friends and alumni.
Amena and Hatim Nakhoda & Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Awarded annually to one or two students - Award will be based upon academic merit and financial need. Established in 2007 by Moeez H. Nakhoda '91 and family.
Arthur and Louise Wasserman Scholarship
Awarded annually to one student - Award will be based on academic merit and financial need. It is the preference of the donor that the awardee be a western New York native of Jewish heritage.
The Robert H. Balk Award
Awarded to a junior or senior level student with a physical disability who is enrolled in the University at Buffalo School of Management. Eligible students will be determined by the UB Office of Accessibility Resources. A physical disability is defined as a significant, permanent or long-standing physical or sensory impairment which substantially limits one of more of the major life activities of the applicant. This application requires the completion of all procedures stated above plus a written statement from the director of the UB Office of Accessibility Resources in 25 Capen Hall.
