Dear alumni and friends:
Welcome to the new digital version of our newsletter, Accounting Update. Shifting to a digital platform will provide a more environmentally sustainable and cost-efficient way for our department to communicate with you, our valued supporters.
Over the past few months, our faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to provide an excellent educational experience for our students. While the coronavirus pandemic has had many disruptive effects, we have continued our academic offerings for students via distance learning and maintained our interactions with alumni and supporters in all possible forms, including this newsletter.
I am particularly proud of the dedication and ingenuity of our faculty in digitally delivering their courses, as well as the perseverance and commitment of our students in an online learning environment. No matter how long this crisis may persist, I am confident in the resilience of our program because of our dedicated faculty, our hard-working students, and our supportive alumni and friends like you.
In addition to ensuring our students’ learning experiences and growth opportunities are not disrupted, our department has made numerous changes to our academic and student support policies with the goal of helping our students academically and financially.
For example, we recently increased the number of department-sponsored scholarships given to incoming Master of Science in Accounting students. Your generous support in the past has given us the financial resources to help our most deserving students. I am sure the students receiving these scholarships appreciate the special value of your generosity.
While these are challenging times for everyone, I hope you will continue your support of our program. We particularly appreciate your contributions to scholarships that support our students. Your generous financial contributions allow our students to succeed and prepare themselves for the future task of rebuilding our economy and society.
