Core Program

The Core program in the University at Buffalo Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) helps business owners and leaders overcome business challenges, create new opportunities and develop valuable networking relationships with the Western New York business community.

This comprehensive program is designed to enhance the talents and operating abilities of practicing entrepreneurs, while at the same time advancing an understanding of the art of entrepreneurship and supporting new initiatives.
Meeting once a week during the 10-month program, Core participants are given the tools and resources to examine their entrepreneurial strengths and weaknesses while exploring new methods for business growth. This is accomplished in a confidential, noncompetitive environment with assistance from fellow classmates, University at Buffalo School of Management faculty and external business experts.

Who Should Apply

The CEL Core program is designed for business owners and leaders whose organizations have progressed beyond the start-up phase of operation. Typical candidates in the program have reached a certain level of success and are currently interested in developing new opportunities and creating future strategies for their organizations.

When and Where Does the Core Program Meet

Core program participants meet once a week from September through June on either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Classes are held at Jacobs Executive Development Center at 672 Delaware Avenue (corner of North Street).

Core Program Application

The Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership will select candidates for the 2009-10 program through August 2009. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as it is not unusual for the class to be filled before the deadline. Applications are available from the CEL office and online.

Each applicant should supplement the application with a letter describing the benefits he or she hopes to gain by participating in this program, and should include any additional information that might assist the CEL in its selection process.
