Finance is the management, creation and study of money, banking, credit, investments, assets and liabilities. Broadly speaking, finance can be divided into three distinct categories:  public finance, corporate finance and personal finance.

However, it is also helpful to think of finance roles as occupying space in a spectrum, from more “people-focused” to “data-focused.” Keep in mind that these general titles are illustrative and can certainly vary by industry and company.

Industries and areas in which finance roles can be found include:

  • Asset Management and Insurance
  • Brokering and Research
  • Commercial Banking
  • Corporate finance (service and manufacturing companies)
  • Hedge Funds
  • nvestment Banking
  • Investment Institutions
  • Venture Capital
  • Wealth Management
