If you're a student or professional with an undergraduate accounting degree from a U.S. college or university and you wish to enhance your technical and professional skills through completion of an advanced degree in accounting, our Master of Science in Accounting is for you.

Created in response to demand by public accounting firms, the Master of Science in Accounting program enhances students’ technical training and critical thinking skills while building expertise in a particular area of practice. Our program will strengthen your professional marketability, give you a broad array of employment options and help you make an immediate contribution to any organization.

The program offers admission in the fall only. International students are not eligible for this program unless they have completed an undergraduate accounting program at a U.S. institution. The one-year full-time curriculum, together with most undergraduate accounting programs, should satisfy the 150-hour educational requirement for certification and licensure as a certified public accountant (CPA). This is the educational standard advocated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) that is required in most states.

150 Hours: Ahead of the Curve

Most states require students to possess 150 hours of accounting education for certification and licensure as a CPA. Our Master of Science in Accounting program offers you the opportunity to satisfy this requirement as you gain experience in issues of importance to the accounting profession. The advanced graduate accounting courses required for the MS provide cutting-edge training in financial accounting, managerial accounting, tax, auditing and financial analysis.

Furthermore, our accounting graduates have consistently out-performed the top 10 largest accounting programs in New York State on the annual CPA exam.

Program advantages:

  • Completion of the degree demonstrates to employers a higher level of professional understanding
  • The program provides experience and expertise within a specific practice area
  • The degree will provide greater employment mobility and options
  • The program satisfies the 150-hour CPA requirement within New York State and beyond
