The School of Management's accounting clubs have been established to foster the professional development of students interested in accounting and related fields. These organizations promote the study and practice of accounting, and provide opportunities for service and involvement among members and practicing professionals.
Beta Alpha Psi is an international scholastic and professional organization for students and professionals planning careers in accounting, finance and information systems. Its primary objective is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in these fields. This includes promoting the study and practice of financial and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals; and, encouraging a sense of ethical, social and public responsibility.
The University at Buffalo Accounting Association (UBAA) provides a variety of experiences to accounting students at the University at Buffalo. The organization is well known by the business community, both locally and nationally. Activities and events that target the development of networking, communication and teamwork skills are planned throughout the school year. An emphasis is also placed on providing insight into the various career paths available in the field of accounting. Through fundraising activities, technical presentations and community and social events, members gain the chance to improve those skills in enjoyable and creative ways.
UBAA is affiliated with the Institute of Management Accountants. An association with a professional organization like this helps to broaden the knowledge of students and is meant to provide the members with both personal and professional development opportunities through education, association with area business professionals and professional certification in the area of internal auditing.
