Meet our Staff

Carrie Gardner

Carrie guides the development and delivery of student and employer services within the Internships and Experiential Learning office. She assists employers across a wide range of industries in creating and promoting internships, and is available for on-site training programs regarding effective supervision and mentoring of student interns. Carrie reviews all internships posted in the BizLink recruiting system; advises students on internship search strategies; and determines final grades for students earning academic credit for internship participation. Carrie's prior experience includes serving as a senior consultant with a global organizational development and outplacement firm as well as serving as director of internships at a big ten university.

Sheila Toomb
Assistant Director

Sheila joined the internship team in June of 2015 after completing her graduate degree in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College. Sheila’s role is multi-faceted. She meets with undergraduate students to aid in the internship search and application process and is available to answer questions regarding BizLink, academic registrations, and the work authorization process (for international students). Sheila oversees Intern Insider, the official newsletter of the internship office, and coordinates the application and review process for donor awards regarding internship funding for students. Additionally, Sheila interacts with employers across a variety of industries to support their intern recruiting activities.

Caitlin Rush
Associate Director

Caitlin designs and coordinates experiential learning opportunities focused on career exploration and professional development for our undergraduate students through the Career Passport program, including: Coffee Cup Conversations, our MGG 300 Career Planning and Strategies course, as well as myriad networking events, conferences, concentration workshops and case competitions. Many of these events are supported and attended by UB School of Management alumni. Caitlin also founded our highly successful Management Volunteer Program, which connects students to service learning opportunities throughout the western New York community.

Martha Salzman
Faculty Director 
Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting and Law

Martha is responsible for final approval of all internship placements as well as the review of policies regarding updates in program operations. She serves as Chair of the faculty internship committee.

Siyuan Spencer Li, BS Candidate, Operations and Supply Chain Management
Student Assistant

Spencer is a senior studying business administration with a concentration in operations & supply chain management. He is involved in the School of Management Honors Program, is a Senior Leadership Partner in the School of Management Exchange Program, and is active in the Buffalo Undergraduate Consulting Club. 

Kristen Kozlowski, JD/MBA Candidate
Graduate Student Assistant

With strong interests in both business and law, Kristen is enrolled in the JD/MBA Dual Degree Program. She graduated in December of 2015 from the UB undergraduate School of Management with concentrations in Marketing and Human Resources. During her time as an undergraduate student, Kristen worked as an intern and subsequently an assistant at Buffalo based Law Firm, Hodgson Russ LLP, and continued to do so after graduation.
