Prominence in Leadership

• Full-time UB School of Management Undergraduate Honors students
• University Honors College management majors receive admissions preference, provided you meet the overall GPA requirement of 3.5 or better
• You must submit a completed Honors program application by Sept. 30 of your junior year to be interviewed
• Upon successful completion of the interviews, interviewers will submit their recommendations to a selection committee for further review. The committee looks for engagement, interest and developmental readiness

• In addition to the micro-credential, you will receive a notation on your transcript

• MGB 359 Leadership Development I, Part 1 (1-credit-hour course, grade of B or better): Through various assessments, you will develop your self-awareness and competencies, including communication, strategic thinking, self-management and adaptability, with integrity as the core. You will practice receiving and giving feedback, and participate in a consulting project for GEICO or a similar company. The focus in MGB 359 is on “self,” and the final deliverable is an electronic portfolio.
• MGB 360 Leadership Development I, Part 2 (1-credit-hour course, grade of B or better): Continue exploring and interpreting your assessment results to gain enhanced self-awareness and continue your leadership development journey. Through the Management Volunteer Program, you will provide 20-25 hours of service. In addition, you will extend your focus on teamwork through workshops on conflict dynamics and team-building skills. A final deliverable is an electronic portfolio that is a culmination of MGB 359 and MGB 360.
• MGB 361 Leadership Development II (1-credit course, grade of B or better): In the final portion of the experience, you will work on a team project with the school’s alumni office on MoneySKILL to serve the community in financial literacy. Applying the skills you have gained, you will prepare for an individual final defense of your experience and body of work, as well as complete your e-portfolio.
• Oral presentation/defense of personal leadership journey: You will submit a comprehensive reflective editorial document and e-portfolio based on your three semesters of reflective work, including the competencies and behaviors you have developed. You will summarize your experiences in a three-minute audio presentation and present an oral defense to a panel and peers about your leadership development journey. Feedback is captured from peers (anonymously) to determine your level of engagement and growth.
• Six credit hours of flexible electives that can be completed from the following:
