Q&A

Why did you decide to get your MBA?

After working several years in a dynamic financial services industry I quickly realized I needed to be just as dynamic. I wanted to gain an even greater competitive edge and further my overall management skills. In addition, I wanted to continue my self-development and receive a well-rounded, advanced education. An MBA from UB was just the edge I needed.

Why the UB PMBA program?

I’m a UB grad so naturally UB was top of mind for me. Ultimately it came down to UB’s excellent reputation, the tailored design of the PMBA program for working professionals, and the affordability of the program that attracted me back.

What has been the most valuable course, advice, experience or professor in the School of Management?

Data modeling is one of the textbooks I still keep within close reach. I also learned a lot from Professor Lindsey’s international marketing course—having the opportunity to meet with various companies overseas and learn about their practices and challenges firsthand was invaluable. It helped further enhance my understanding of the complexities of operating and marketing a business in a global economy.

Can you offer any advice to other professionals who are considering a PMBA degree?

Don’t think twice about it! I’d highly recommend the PMBA program. It’s a great way to expand your horizons, offers networking opportunities, gain skills outside your immediate expertise and sharpen your existing skills.

What are your plans after graduation? Do you plan to continue to work in the same industry?

I plan on staying in the financial services industry. Its complexity, combined with my MBA, will offer me a broad range of opportunities and challenges that will allow me the flexibility to move in different directions throughout my career.
