Military and Veterans

Make the most of your transition from the military to a successful career with a UB MBA.

You've got skills. At a young age, you've already demonstrated leadership, team building, critical thinking and the ability to assess problems and make decisions in difficult and dynamic environments. Now, as you transition from the military, those are the exact skills employers are seeking. The UB MBA will teach you to apply those skills in your civilian career.

Application fees waived for active military, veterans and their spouses

Complete and submit your online application using one of the non-payment methods and then contact som-apps@buffalo.edu for more information.

Why an MBA?

As a credential, an MBA is your passport to greater things. It’s time to embrace your ambition. With an MBA, you will learn how businesses operate, whether you want to run a company or start your own. You will advance your leadership instincts into leadership skills to provide problem solving in the real world.

Investing in your education will pay immediate and lifelong dividends. And Bloomberg notes that “an MBA may be the professional degree with the quickest ROI in the U.S.”

The UB MBA provides:

  • A badge of credibility that tells employers that you have business smarts, management skills and financial understanding
  • Opportunities to expand your professional connections beyond your military network
  • Tools to help you transform your military background into a career-ready résumé

The UB MBA - A Solid Value

The UB MBA is an affordable opportunity. Consider these factors:

  • All military and veterans, regardless of home state of record, are eligible for New York State in-state tuition
  • Your GI Bill covers UB tuition as well as a living stipend
  • Supplement your costs with Yellow Ribbon funding, state grants and school scholarships
  • In New York, your spouse is also eligible for SUNY in-state tuition
  • We provide application fee waivers for all military and veterans. You may also be eligible for a GMAT waiver

Although not listed as a current VA Yellow Ribbon participant, UB proudly offers students tuition benefits commensurable to those of the Yellow Ribbon program.

The VA Yellow Ribbon Program generally provides additional funding for students who are charged out-of-state tuition. Provisions in the Veteran Access to Care Act of 2014 require all public universities, such as UB, to offer in-state tuition to honorably discharged veterans and eligible dependents. Students must submit the Residency Application for New York State Tuition Purposes—Military form to the Student Accounts office in order to receive this benefit.
