Arrival Information

Arrive at UB Stadium at 4 p.m. on May 14. Your ceremony will start at 5 p.m. All graduates will enter through the north stadium gates (gates 4 and 5)—look for the signs marked specifically for students, faculty and staff. Don't forget your cap, gown, hood and tassel.

Once you arrive, there will be a quick check of your COVID-19 documentation (visit the UB COVID-19 Commencement page for more information) and then you will be directed to the registration booths. The registration booths will be marked with degree information, so proceed to the booth that corresponds with your degree.

When you are checked in, you will be directed to your seating section. Degrees are arranged alphabetically but you can sit wherever you want in your degree section (no assigned seating). There will be many faculty and staff members on hand to help guide you to the correct section.

Important notes

Plan your clothing and footwear appropriately for an outdoor event. You will be seated outside for several hours and will walk the length of the football field on the turf to cross the stage.

Also, limit the items (purses, bags, etc.) you bring with you, as you will have to hold on to them for the duration of the event.

Health and Safety Guidelines

We are thrilled to be able to celebrate the achievements of this year’s graduates in person. Although COVID-19 continues to be a risk, we have taken steps to minimize the chance of transmission. Visit the UB Commencement website for information about COVID-related requirements as well as prohibited items.

This is a ticketed ceremony.

Each guest will need a ticket to enter the stadium, and each graduate attending the ceremony in person will be allotted two general admission guest tickets. Children under the age of two do not need a ticket. All students registered to attend in person will be sent their two tickets via email the week of May 10.  Unfortunately, we do not have additional tickets for this ceremony. Friends and family who do not have a ticket for the ceremony are invited to view the ceremony via live simulcast online. A link to the live stream and technical requirements will be posted to the UB Commencement Streaming page prior to the ceremony. Additional information for guests can be found on the UB Commencement Stadium information page.
