MBA Advantage - Interviews

Virtual Practice Interviews

January 19, 2024

Thank you for participating in virtual mock interviews with our first-year MBA class. Everything you need can be found on this page.

This practice interview event is an interview competition for the students, the Ultimate Interview Challenge. It is part of the MBA Advantage program and will be attended by the entire first-year full-time MBA class. The students’ interview performance is always being evaluated. However, the students will be competing to win the Best Interview ($500 prize) and Best Interview Runner Up ($250 prize). So your feedback and evaluation is very important to this process.

Next Steps

  1. Review the student's résumé, internship description, interview questions and evaluation form. The résumé will be/was emailed to you along with the student's name (usually a day or two before the interview).
  2. Select 3 behavioral questions to ask from the question sheet.
  3. Join the Zoom Interview Room 10 minutes before your first interview. We will review the overall instructions and put you into a breakout room, where you will conduct the interview.
  4. Virtually meet the student in a breakout room to conduct the interview.
  5. Act as a representative from the company on the sample internship posting. However, you do not have to answer any of the student's questions during the interview portion.
  6. Ask questions/interview for approximately 25-30 minutes. Then provide immediate feedback to the student for 10-15 minutes. If you have time at the end for networking, that would be great.
  7. Once you are finished with the interview you can leave the Zoom meeting. Return to the main room if you have any questions. If you have a second interview, you can remain in your breakout room.
  8. Complete an online evaluation form for each student (by 10:45 a.m.).
  9. Consider attending the virtual Awards Ceremony at 12:30 p.m. to see the results of the Ultimate Interview Challenge.

Questions

There is one question sheet for all interviews. Please select three behavioral-based questions (on the sheet) to use for your interview.

Descriptions

Act as a representative from the company on the sample internship posting (Adidas, Hershey, Liberty Mutual, Massachusetts General or PepsiCo). The company name is listed on the posting below.

Evaluating the Student

Complete an evaluation for each student you interview.

Focus on how well the student leveraged their own experiences (rather than the level of their experience).

Submit all evaluations by 10:45 a.m.

These are the required fields:

  • Student Name
  • Interviewer Name
  • Should this student win the overall competition for Best Interview?
  • Should they win for any category?
  • What did they do best?
  • What requires the most improvement?

Awards Ceremony

You are welcome to join us for the virtual Awards Ceremony taking place later on Friday. We will provide both positive and constructive feedback to the class as a whole based on interviewer evaluations. We will also award winners for overall winner and each category.

Getting Help

Join the Zoom Interview Room (link sent to you and listed above).

CRC staff, including Pam Krakowiak and Melissa Ruggiero, will be hosting the two Zoom Interview Rooms. We will review the overall instructions and be available to answer any questions before you get started. Students will be held in the waiting room until right before the start of the interview. Then you and the student will be directed to a breakout room, where the actual interview will happen.
