With sprinkles, whipped cream and, of course, UB True to the Blue ice cream, it was certainly a sweet start to the year for the School of Management — all thanks to Perry’s Ice Cream.

Perry’s welcomed students, faculty and staff back to campus by sponsoring an ice cream social yesterday at the newly updated Perry’s Ice Cream Plaza on UB’s North Campus.

Located outside of the Alfiero Center in the shadow of its magnificent three-story windows, the plaza features colorful window decals and several red Adirondack chairs, creating a fun outdoor spot for UB community members to relax.

“It’s good to have corporate sponsors,” said Yash Khatau, MBA ’18. “Thank you, Perry’s for the ‘laid back’ chairs.”

To kick off the event, Robert Denning, EMBA ’00, president and CEO of Perry’s, and Paul Tesluk, dean of the School of Management, cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially unveil the space, designed by Chakra Communications.

“As an alumnus of the Executive MBA program, it is my honor to partner with the School of Management for the dedication of the new Perry’s Ice Cream Plaza,” Denning said. “I’m beyond impressed with the work that went into creating a completely redesigned outdoor space for faculty, staff and students to enjoy and hopefully create fond memories of their time at UB.”

Afterward, as members of the school community reconnected, students from the Undergraduate Management Association scooped True to the Blue, a Perry’s flavor with vanilla ice cream, salty caramel swirls and blue pretzel balls that supports UB Athletics.

“Perry’s has long been a key partner with the School of Management through the organization’s participation in our Corporate Champions program and efforts to recruit students for internships and full-time positions,” Tesluk said. “This space is just another example of Perry’s outstanding commitment to the School of Management community. What better way to launch the semester than outside with a scoop of ice cream on a beautiful day?”
