Lydia Curci, BS ’22

Program: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2020

"Even though my trip to Costa Rica was canceled due to COVID-19, we were still able to speak with the host families we would have lived with to understand more about them and their experiences. Our hard work in class paid off in other ways, as this experience taught me how to persevere through a challenging situation and learn from it."

Janelle Fore, BS/MBA ’21
Global Programs Graduate Assistant

Programs: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2020; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2019

"Global Programs have allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and learn about cultures that are both similar and different than my own. Through my interactions with people in Ghana and Costa Rica, I've been able to develop my communication and interpersonal skills by building relationships with people on different continents. Without the School of Management’s Global Programs, these experiences would not have been possible. I learned so much and can't wait for my next journey!"

Meet our Team

Steven Gabriel, MPH/MBA ’21

Programs: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2020; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2019

"Global Programs distinguish the UB School of Management as a premier institution. During my experiences in Costa Rica and Ghana, I was reminded how fundamentally similar we all are at our core and saw how different countries solve complex global challenges across the business and health landscapes. Going outside my comfort zone, immersing myself in different cultures and applying my education on the world stage shaped my academic and professional trajectory, and I will take that with me for the rest of my life."

Malkijah Griffiths, MPH/MBA ’22

Program: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2019

"My Ghana experience was an eye-opening opportunity that contributed immensely to my professional development. I gained valuable business knowledge that I can take back to my internship and class projects. My favorite part was meeting business leaders in Ghana—they really wanted to hear what students could contribute to the problems their organizations were facing. Having this experience on my résumé, and discussing my involvement with potential employers and peers, has opened up many doors for me professionally and academically."

Noah Nardozza, BS ’22

Program: Experience the 50: Silicon Valley Tech Trek, Winter 2020

"The Tech Trek was a powerful and life-changing experience that showed me, firsthand, what a career in Silicon Valley would look like. By touring Fortune 500 companies, gaining industry knowledge and building my network, this experience has paved a path for me to reach my professional goals."

Lauren White, BS ’22

Program: Experience the 50: Silicon Valley Tech Trek, Winter 2020

"Global programs allow students to explore new places and cultures. My experience traveling to Silicon Valley with the School of Management shaped me into a better individual and changed my perspective about my career path—truly once in a lifetime. By the time it concluded, my network had expanded to professionals in different industries, and the skills I acquired will stick with me throughout my career."

Shannon Lach, MBA ’20
Recipient of the Harvey L. Herer School of Management International Travel Scholarship

Programs: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in India, Winter 2020; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2020; Experience the 50: Industry and Culture in Chicago, Fall 2019; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2019

"Studying abroad added another level to my college experience, and helps set up our generation to be a more global-minded society. It took me out of my element and put me in a place where I was less comfortable, enabling me to learn in a new way. Experiencing other cultures broadened my knowledge base and taught me to think and live differently. Spending time in Costa Rica has allowed me to think beyond my Buffalo mindset and invest in UB from a broader perspective."

Yash Shah, MBA ’20

Program: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2019

"My trip to Costa Rica with the School of Management allowed me to study and gain a fresh perspective to an emerging market. The homestay experience was particularly valuable because it helped me to understand the culture from an average citizen's point of view, beyond just what you see as a tourist. With the project, I could use my classroom knowledge and implement my skills while learning on a practical level. Overall, the experience helped me become a better individual and will act as a stepping stone for me to become a global leader for tomorrow.”

Sonya Tareke, BS ’17, MBA ’20

Programs: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in India, Winter 2020; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2019 and 2018; Experience the 50: Accounting and Finance in Boston, Spring 2019; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2019

"Fully immersing myself in multiple global programs—from my time in Accra, Ghana, all the way to San José, Costa Rica—has truly been a breath of fresh air during my UB MBA journey. Combining international business and global impact helped me realize that I want to pursue a career in social enterprises. A newfound mentor of mine in Costa Rica said it best when he taught the class a valuable life lesson our first day: 'Travel with no impact is simply tourism.'"

Victoria Terrazzino, BS ’20

Programs: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2019; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2018

"Traveling abroad to Ghana and Costa Rica provided me with a wider worldview that cannot be taught in a classroom. The experience opened doors on a broad scale by giving me the opportunity to meet new people and learn more about myself and the world than I could have ever imagined."

Jake Walsh, MBA ’20

Programs: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in India, Winter 2020; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2019

"In today’s global economy, it is more important than ever to understand how businesses function and interact on the global stage. Thanks to the School of Management’s global programs, I have gained invaluable exposure and appreciation for foreign cultures through work and travel. My trip to Costa Rica gave me a new perspective on how to perceive business problems and challenged me to reorient how I understand and view the world."

Yue Zhang, BS ’20

Program: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2019

"I feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to study in Costa Rica with a group of students who are intelligent, creative and hard-working. Not only did I get to explore the city and local businesses, but I also got to build a relationship with my host family. This experience, along with other trips, have shaped my worldview."
