Lydia Curci, BS ’22

Program: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2020

"Even though my trip to Costa Rica was canceled due to COVID-19, we were still able to speak with the host families we would have lived with to understand more about them and their experiences. Our hard work in class paid off in other ways, as this experience taught me how to persevere through a challenging situation and learn from it."

Janelle Fore, BS/MBA ’21
Global Programs Graduate Assistant

Programs: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2020; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2019

"Global Programs have allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and learn about cultures that are both similar and different than my own. Through my interactions with people in Ghana and Costa Rica, I've been able to develop my communication and interpersonal skills by building relationships with people on different continents. Without the School of Management’s Global Programs, these experiences would not have been possible. I learned so much and can't wait for my next journey!"

Meet our Team

Steven Gabriel, MPH/MBA ’21

Programs: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Latin America, Spring 2020; Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2019

"Global Programs distinguish the UB School of Management as a premier institution. During my experiences in Costa Rica and Ghana, I was reminded how fundamentally similar we all are at our core and saw how different countries solve complex global challenges across the business and health landscapes. Going outside my comfort zone, immersing myself in different cultures and applying my education on the world stage shaped my academic and professional trajectory, and I will take that with me for the rest of my life."

Malkijah Griffiths, MPH/MBA ’22

Program: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2019

"My Ghana experience was an eye-opening opportunity that contributed immensely to my professional development. I gained valuable business knowledge that I can take back to my internship and class projects. My favorite part was meeting business leaders in Ghana—they really wanted to hear what students could contribute to the problems their organizations were facing. Having this experience on my résumé, and discussing my involvement with potential employers and peers, has opened up many doors for me professionally and academically."

Benjamin Makosy in Ghana.

Benjamin Makosy, BS ’20, MS ’21

Program: Social Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership in Ghana, Winter 2020; Experience the 50: Disney – Business and Practice, Fall 2019

"My experiences with Global Programs have taken me to Ghana and Disney World. Traveling to Ghana was fundamental in my development, both personally and professionally. It provided me with a new perspective on culture, diversity and an area of the world I was unfamiliar with. I was consistently pushed out of my comfort zone to experience and learn new things, for which I am incredibly grateful. My time in Disney was highlighted by leadership workshops from one of the world's most successful companies and the opportunity to make connections with UB alumni."

Noah Nardozza, BS ’22
Global Programs Student Volunteer

Program: Experience the 50: Silicon Valley Tech Trek, Winter 2020

"The Tech Trek was a powerful and life-changing experience that showed me, firsthand, what a career in Silicon Valley would look like. By touring Fortune 500 companies, gaining industry knowledge and building my network, this experience has paved a path for me to reach my professional goals."

Lauren White, BS ’22

Program: Experience the 50: Silicon Valley Tech Trek, Winter 2020

"Global programs allow students to explore new places and cultures. My experience traveling to Silicon Valley with the School of Management shaped me into a better individual and changed my perspective about my career path—truly once in a lifetime. By the time it concluded, my network had expanded to professionals in different industries, and the skills I acquired will stick with me throughout my career."
