Meet the Philanthropy Team

John S. Prizner III

Assistant Dean and Director of Philanthropy

John joined the School of Management after serving four years as a development officer at Canisius College. He has a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from Canisius College and a master’s degree from Syracuse University’s S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. John has held positions in public relations, marketing and development in the Buffalo Bills organization, Youth Lifeline America and Global Signs and Graphics.

John leads his team in a comprehensive program of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts, working with alumni and donors to ensure private support for the School of Management.

Amy M. Johnson

Senior Annual Giving Officer

Amy joined the School of Management after serving as chief development officer at Girl Scouts of Western New York. She has held marketing and fundraising positions with Canisius College, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Brookgreen Gardens. Amy holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York College at Fredonia in English with a concentration in Public Relations.

As associate director of development, Amy is responsible for the School of Management’s annual giving activities and building the leadership gift society – the Shareholder’s Society.

Beth A. Ranney

Philanthropy Coordinator

Beth is a graduate of Medaille College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in media communications. She has held directorship positions in public relations, marketing and development in the health, human services and educational sectors.

As development coordinator, Beth coordinates the stewardship program, manages endowment, scholarship and award gifts and develops gift proposals and summary impact pieces.


Barbara A. Mielcarek

Administrative Assistant

Barbara joined the School of Management after serving as Plant Clerk at NRG Energy’s Huntley Power Plant. Prior to NRG she worked at Niagara County Community College in the Department of Corporate Training and the Office of Information Technology Services. In the private sector she has experience in sales, operational planning, marketing and product forecasting and development. Barbara holds a bachelor’s degree from the UB School of Management, with a concentration in Marketing.

As administrative assistant, Barbara is responsible for supporting the School of Management team as well as working collaboratively with development and alumni staff in university services and across the division.
