Q. Do I participate in or register for the University Commencement also?
A. No. University Commencement will only award degrees to undergraduates in the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as all candidates for associate degrees.
Q. I am graduating with undergraduate honors (magna cum laude or summa cum laude). Where do I get information on how to obtain the gold cord?

Q. I have not completed all the requirements to officially graduate this May. Can I still participate in a School of Management commencement ceremony?
A. Yes. If you have not met all the requirements to be on the official graduation list, you still may participate in a School of Management commencement ceremony. Registration is required to participate in either ceremony. Online registration will be available via the School of Management website starting January 2014. If you do not register you will not be eligible to participate in the ceremony. If you are not officially graduating in September 2013, February 2014 or June 2014 your name will not appear in the printed May 2014 commencement program.
Q. How do I order a cap and gown?
A. Caps and gowns can be ordered through the University Bookstore, located on the North Campus, beginning March 2014. For out-of-town orders, call 716-636-6290 (ext. 19 or 25). Credit Cards are accepted. See Cap and Gown in the commencement information section by clicking here.
Q. Where do I first report and when?
A. Signs will direct you to the pre-staging area in the Triple Gym of Alumni Arena. All students participating in the undergraduate ceremony must arrive at Alumni Arena at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16 for the 1 p.m. ceremony. All students participating in the graduate ceremony must arrive at Alumni Arena at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16 for the 5 p.m. ceremony.
Q. Will further instructions be received by students who have registered to participate?
A. An email including further details will be mailed in late April to all registered students.
Q. I have a disability which may require special accommodations for me to participate in the commencement ceremony. What should I do?
A. When you register online to participate in one of the School of Management commencement ceremonies, simply note your possible need for special accommodations. You will be contacted by a staff member who will discuss and finalize your accommodations.
Q. If I have a guest who has a disability, what accommodations will be available in Alumni Arena?

Q. Do I need to make a prior request for special seating areas in Alumni Arena for my guest with a disability?
A. No, please click here for further instructions.
Q. Are tickets required?
A. No. Alumni Arena has sufficient seating capacity to accommodate as many family members (guests) as you wish to invite.
Q. Are baby strollers permitted in Alumni Arena?
A. No. Baby strollers cannot be brought into Alumni Arena.
Q. Do you have family members from abroad who wish to come to your ceremony to see you graduate? Do you need a letter of invitation for documentation?
A. You may request a letter of invitation for family members by contacting the appropriate Student Services Office. If you are an undergraduate student please stop by 204 Alfiero or email the office at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are a graduate student you can stop by 203 Alfiero or email the office at email@example.com. Please indicate if you are an undergraduate or graduate student in your email.
Q. Where can I find information for assisting my family and friends in making travel arrangements such as travel directions, hotel or motel information, or dining in the Buffalo area?

Q. If I want to make dinner reservations for my family after the commencement exercises, what time should I make those reservations?
A. Allow approximately one hour and 45 minutes for the ceremony and another 15-30 minutes to get off campus and to your restaurant of choice. Therefore, do not make reservations before 3:30 p.m. for the 1 p.m. undergraduate ceremony and 7:30 p.m. for the 5 p.m. graduate ceremony.
Q. Where can my family, friends, and relatives find parking for the commencement ceremony?
A. Parking will be available in all of the parking lots across campus, including all faculty, staff and student lots. Parking lots closest to Alumni Arena include, but are not limited to, Lake La Salle Lot (behind the Center for the Arts building), Alumni Lot, Arena Lot, and Slee and Baird Lots. Keep in mind that there will be many other ceremonies taking place on North campus this weekend, so be sure to arrive with plenty of time to find parking. Handicap parking will be available; information will be provided at the drop off area in front of Alumni Arena prior to the ceremony.
Q. Will there be a professional photographer at the School of Management commencements?
A. Yes. GradImages™ will take individual photographs of each graduate attending commencement. Proofs will be mailed to each student about one week following the commencement ceremony. All questions or inquiries must be made to GradImages™ at 1-800-261-2576.
Q. Will the ceremony be available for online viewing?
A. This ceremony will be streamed LIVE, online (see Live Coverage section at: commencement.buffalo.edu/video.php). After commencement weekend, a video link will be posted online for POST-ceremony viewing (see 2014 video section at: commencement.buffalo.edu/video.php).
Q. When will I receive my diploma?
A. The Office of the Registrar will mail your diploma to your PERMANENT ADDRESS approximately eight weeks after the conferral date. Note: Students are responsible for making address changes.
