On Target Undergraduate Case Competition

General Information

Four-person student teams are given a case and asked to resolve a corporate problem that spans several functional areas. Essentially, teams will serve as consultants to the Target Corporation. Teams are strongly encouraged to include at least one School of Management junior or senior.

Each team will prepare a written executive report not to exceed five double-spaced pages. Based on an evaluation of the reports, the top five teams will present their conclusions in 15-minute presentations before a panel of judges, followed by a 10-15 minute question and answer period. 

Each member of the top team wins a monetary scholarship. In February 2009, members of the winning team will share a $4,000 award ($1,000 for each team member).

• Target will supply a relatively short business case
• There is an entrance fee of $20 per team. No refunds
• This competition will be limited to 20 team entries
• A panel of Target executives will serve as judges
• The top five team finalists will present their conclusions in at the end of February 
• There will be a scholarship award for the top team

Students can submit a team entry form and the $20 cash fee to the Undergraduate Programs Office in Alfiero 204 by noon on November 6, 2008, or until the first 20 team entries are accepted.
