Prospective Freshmen

The School of Management admits new incoming freshmen directly to the accounting or business administration major. For direct admission, prospective freshmen are required to select either accounting or business administration on the University at Buffalo application. As a freshman who is admitted to the major, you must maintain the admission standards to continue in the major and you do not need to submit any additional application. Academic performance in the freshman and sophomore courses is the main criterion for admission to the upper division of the School of Management. In the first two years, students complete the university writing requirements, general education courses and seven prerequisite courses for the major.

Important note: High school students interested in the accounting or business administration major are encouraged to apply early for admission to the University at Buffalo. Due to the quantitative nature of these majors it is recommended students complete pre-calculus and be calculus-ready prior to enrollment to UB.

Prospective Transfers

Students transferring to UB must gain admission to the University at Buffalo. After accepting admission to UB and submitting a deposit, new incoming transfer students who select business administration or accounting as their intended major will automatically have their transcripts reviewed by the School of Management. To be considered an intended major or to gain junior-year admission in the major, you must meet the minimum admissions standards for the business administration or accounting major.
Important note: Transfer students are required to meet the minimum overall transfer GPA at entry to UB to be eligible for any potential admission to either the accounting or business administration majors in the School of Management. If your overall transfer GPA is below the minimum requirement, you must select a major outside of the School of Management. However you may consider exploring the minor in management as a compliment to your major that is outside of our program.
