PMBA Electives

  • Each January and August, prior to the start of the regular semester, one-credit mini courses are held on three evenings and a half day Saturday. These specialized courses have been created to help working professionals develop important career skills. For example, you might immerse yourself in building team skills or improving your competency with business communications.
  • Electives may include Power and Influence, Consulting, Leading Teams, Communication Skills, Integrated Marketing, Introduction to Healthcare Economics, Supply Chains and Global Operations, International Business Environment and many more.
  • The flexible elective credits may be filled by taking three additional mini-courses, completing a supervised research project or by taking a course that we may offer on an ad hoc basis in the latter part of the summer or during an intersession period. This is an opportunity for you to seek out a challenge to expand your portfolio of skills or to obtain depth in an area of interest.

The University at Buffalo School of Management is an internationally recognized school with world class faculty. Many faculty members are chancellor award nominees or winners, and have taught in countries throughout the world. In addition, instructors focus on helping students understand emerging trends in business that offer in-depth training and hands-on experience in complex management skills. Core courses teach materials that can be used by functional managers to solve day-to-day problems and address long-term strategic issues. Global and ethical perspectives are included throughout the core curriculum.

Participants are expected to complete significant work outside the classroom in both individual and study-group assignments. All students are working toward an MBA and need to maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 to remain in good standing and eligible for a degree.
