MSW/MBA Dual Degree Program

The School of Management and the School of Social Work offer a three-year program leading to both the MBA (Master of Business Administration) and MSW (Master of Social Work) degrees. This collaborative program reduces by one year the usual pattern of a two-year MBA program and a two-year MSW program. Each candidate must meet all the degree requirements of each program, except for the reduction in total credit hours over the two degree programs as described in this document. Students will complete a total of 96 credit hours, which will consist of 48 in Management and 48 in Social Work. A typical schedule of coursework is outlined below.

Students wishing to pursue the collaborative program should make application to both programs at the same time, but plan to begin the MBA their first year. Applications for the MBA program must be submitted online through the School of Management Web site. Information and personal advisement are available at 203 Alfiero Center, North Campus. The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required for admission to the MBA Program. The complete application file must be submitted by May 21, prior to the fall semester in which the applicant intends to begin the MBA portion of the program.

Applications for the Social Work program can be obtained online through the School of Social Work Web site. Applications for individuals with a BSW who are applying for Advanced Standing must be received by February 1, otherwise completed applications must be received by March 1. Information and personal advisement is available by contacting Kathryn Kendall, Assistant Dean for Recruitment and Alumni Relations.

Admission will be limited to students who have demonstrated superior capabilities.
