MBA Certificate

The purpose of the MBA Certificate program is to provide an opportunity for non-American executives to experience MBA-level education in the United States without the pressures that come with formal enrollment in a complete MBA program. In addition, participants will gain increased proficiency in the English language and will experience the business climate and culture of the United States first-hand.

Please note that this is a non-credit-bearing program; courses taken during this program may not be applied to any future MBA degree program. 

Program Description

The MBA Certificate program offered by the School of Management is an educational program consisting of the following:

  • A six-or twelve-week intensive English language training program. Whether this training is six weeks or twelve weeks will depend on the participant’s knowledge of English. This segment of the program is offered through the State University of New York at Buffalo’s English Language Institute (ELI) and takes place during the summer
  • An MBA orientation program. The focus of this orientation is on preparation for taking MBA courses
  • Participation in MBA degree courses offered through the School of Management. These courses are available in the fall and spring semesters and encompass the areas of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management Science and Systems, Marketing, Operations, Organizational Behavior and Strategy
  • Individual academic advising
  • Two TOEFL examinations; one upon arrival and one at the end of the program

Each semester, each participant will be required to take the following:

  • Three MBA courses

                  OR

  • Two MBA courses
  • Two evening Business English Language courses

The School of Management will provide an evaluation of each participant at the end of each session. The evaluation will include course grades and brief evaluative comments in order to provide a measure of the participant’s progress.

Each participant will receive an MBA Certificate if he or she successfully completes the requirements of this management program.
