Meet the Philanthropy Team

Gayle E. Hutton
Senior Major Gift Officer

Gayle joined the School of Management team after serving as a senior major gift officer in the UB Jacobs School of Medicine. She also has held philanthropy positions at UB in the School of Engineering and as a director of special gifts. Previously, Gayle was the director of development at The Gow School for fifteen years, and she served as director of alumni at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan.

She is president of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association and a member of the development committee for the Boys and Girls Club of East Aurora. Gayle is a violinist and violist who performs as a freelance and chamber musician.

As a senior major gift officer, Gayle cultivates meaningful relationships with alumni and friends to advance the mission of the school and raise philanthropic support for students and School of Management programs.

Robin P. Marti
Major Gift Officer

Robin joined the University at Buffalo School of Management team after serving as associate director of fundraising at SUNY Geneseo. Previously, she was regional marketing director at USA TODAY/Gannett Publishing Services, working on more than a hundred college campus to implement the Collegiate Readership Program. She also has experience in advertising sales and non-profit event management and is a graduate of Le Moyne College with a concentration in communications.

As part of the philanthropy team at the School of Management, Robin works with alumni across the country to engage and connect them with students and faculty. As senior major gifts officer, Robin strives to cultivate meaningful relationships, advance the mission of the school, and raise philanthropic support.

Alanna L. Burt
Senior Annual Gift Officer

Alanna comes to the School of Management from Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper, where she was director of advancement. She has served as an independent fund raising consultant and was senior director of donor relations and advancement services at Ontario College of Art and Design. Alanna was also associate director of annual giving at McMaster University and associate director of alumni affairs and development for the NY and Ontario Office of Cornell University. She has an MBA degree from Quinnipiac University and a bachelor of arts degree in communications from Cornell University.

At the School of Management, Alanna focuses on securing annual philanthropic gifts from alumni and friends.   

Beth A. Ranney
Philanthropy Coordinator

Beth has held directorship positions in public relations, marketing and development in the health, human services and educational sectors. As philanthropy coordinator, she facilitates the School of Management's Undergraduate and Graduate Giving Councils, manages the school's donor relations and stewardship program, oversees endowment, scholarship and award gifts, and develops gift proposals and summary impact pieces. She is a graduate of Medaille College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in media communications.

As part of the philanthropy team, she develops iniatives that demonstrate the need and impact of philanthropic gifts on the lives of School of Management students.

Barbara A. Mielcarek
Administrative Assistant

Barbara joined the School of Management after serving as plant clerk at NRG Energy’s Huntley Power Plant. Prior to NRG, she worked at Niagara County Community College in the Department of Corporate Training and the Office of Information Technology Services. In the private sector, she has experience in sales, operational planning, marketing, and product forecasting and development. Barbara holds a bachelor’s degree from the UB School of Management with a concentration in marketing.

As administrative assistant, Barbara is responsible for supporting the School of Management team as well as working collaboratively with development and alumni staff in university services and across the division.
