Jacobs Management Center

The heart of our academics.

The Jacobs Management Center serves as the primary academic and professional building for the School of Management. Designed in the early 1980s, the 81,000-square-foot building is located on UB’s North Campus and features three tiered classrooms, several computer and specialty labs, administrative and academic offices, and five conference rooms. In addition, the building is home to the Leadership, Learning and Community Center, a space for management students to connect with one another and take advantage of tutoring and other enrichment services.

Jacobs and the adjoining Alfiero Center create a destination for management students to come for classes and stay for individual work, team meetings, career planning, professional development, research and activities.

Jacobs Management Center History

The Jacobs Management Center bears the Jacobs family name, in honor of a $1 million gift provided to the school in 1983. The building honors the late Louis Jacobs and his wife, the late Genevieve Bibby Jacobs, as well as their three sons, Jeremy, Max and the late Lawrence D. Jacobs. The center was officially opened in February 1985 and replaced Crosby Hall on the South Campus as the School of Management’s home.

Since 1985, the center has undergone a number of changes to adapt with the evolving operating and academic environment. The growth of many School of Management programs, such as our international and Executive MBA programs, has filled what was once excess capacity in the building. In addition, the facility has evolved to accommodate the technological developments of the last few decades. The original mainframe system in the Jacobs computer lab has given way to contemporary computers, and wired technologies have been integrated throughout the building.

The Jacobs Management Center will continue to offer the latest technology, including enhanced digital access, to support our overseas programs and amenities, preparing our students for success in a competitive global environment.
