Home > Degree Programs > Full-Time MBA > Academics > Curriculum > Supply Chains and Operations Supply Chains and Operations Management ConcentrationThe Supply Chains and Operations Management concentration is intended to prepare students for a managerial and leadership career with the skills necessary to formulate strategies and effectively manage operations environments in manufacturing and service industries. DescriptionIn addition to classical operations management concepts, the curriculum has been designed to cover new developments in supply chain management (SCM), including manufacturing resource planning (MRP II), optimized production technology, and just-in-time (JIT) systems. Developments in automation and the design and management of cellular systems and flexible automation are also covered. The option also deals with human resources aspects, cost accounting elements, information systems, and qualitative and quantitative tool and techniques, all of which are critical to the success of operations environments. Career OpportunitiesThe career opportunities include managerial positions in all levels, in both line and staff functions in service as well as manufacturing industries. The areas of opportunity include besides general management positions, planning and control, materials management, quality assurance, industrial engineering, systems analysis, maintenance, marketing operations, internal audit, etc., as well as careers in management consulting. Internships If the student does not have at least one year of qualifying work experience, an internship must be completed in a manufacturing organization or in an operations management function in a service firm.
