The Affordable Care Act: What Comes After Repeal and Replace?

Few things are more controversial — or complicated — than health care reform.

The current administration was elected in no small part on their pledge to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, President Obama’s signature legislative achievement. What comes next? How will the “repeal/replace” effort affect individuals, health care providers, businesses and taxpayers?

Larry Zielinski, BA '75, MBA '77, is executive in residence for health care administration. He has led successful, market-dominant organizations in both healthcare and banking over the last 35 years. He served as the president of Buffalo General Hospital, the flagship center of the Kaleida Health System. Prior to that, he was president of the Visiting Nursing Association of Western New York, developing that organization into the leading home health provider in the regional marketplace and one of the most prominent agencies in the country. Zielinski also runs his own health care consulting practice.

His health care expertise covers the entire delivery system, including acute, ancillary and post-acute care in both adult and pediatric settings. He also has extensive experience working with physicians on collaborative strategies to build their practices, both in private and academic settings.

Prior to his career in health care, Zielinski was a successful banking executive at Goldome, an $11 billion regional institution serving New York and Florida. His banking and finance background are a unique complement in today’s challenging world of health care economics.
