Dutta's research is at the intersection of technology strategy and entrepreneurship, exploring a central conundrum for the technology entrepreneur--attracting stakeholders when there is information asymmetry about the quality of a venture. His research interests focuses on the following domains:

Dutta worked for more than six years as a strategy consultant for L.E.K Consulting, India, and as a product manager in Suzuki Motors, India. He is an entrepreneur and has co-founded new ventures in the education and aviation sector. He continues to advise entrepreneurs on the challenges of surviving and achieving success with limited resources.
