Seminar to Explore Cybersecurity for Small Businesses

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo School of Management Alumni Association (SOMAA) will hold a breakfast seminar exploring cybersecurity for small businesses and nonprofit organizations from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on March 18 at the Center for Tomorrow on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. 

The seminar, “Cybersecurity for Dummies,” is part of the SOMAA’s Smart Business Practices Breakfast Seminar Series. It includes a full breakfast, panel discussion, presentations and question and answer period.

Topics to be addressed include: wireless security, antivirus, data back-ups, disaster-recovery planning, password security, computer and data disposition, Internet usage policies, spam filters and software patches.

The presenters are Kristopher Meier, director of information technology for Algonquin Studios; David J. Murray, assistant professor of management science and systems at the University at Buffalo; and Gregory S. Gartland, IBM-certified administrator, developer and trainer for The PCA Group.

The cost of the breakfast seminar is $25 for SOMAA members, $30 for nonprofit representatives and $35 for others who are not members of SOMAA. Reservations are required by March 13. Registration forms are available at http://mgt.buffalo.edu/alumni/events.
