Vles is Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from APICS, the Association for Operations Management. He is currently an operations manager in the Aircraft Division at Moog Inc. From 1988 to 2007, he was an associate at Luvata (formerly American Brass) in Buffalo, where he was director of operations and plant manager. There, he also served as director, customer service and inventory teams, manager inside sales, manager manufacturing systems and various leadership positions in IT.

Vles has extensive experience in directing and working with manufacturing staff and union employees in a large plant, using the guidelines of the ISO TS-16949 and AS-9100 management systems. He establishes a high performance team environment, and leads initiatives to improve sales, customer service, productivity, safety, inventory levels and quality.

Active in the community, Vles serves on the boards of directors of the UB School of Management Alumni Association, APICS (President Buffalo Chapter) and the Buffalo & Erie County Workforce Development Consortium (chair). He also teaches courses on operations management, scheduling and inventory control systems, teamwork and leadership.

Vles was born in Buffalo and lives in Lancaster with his wife, Cheryl, and their two children.
