A. Panasci Jr. Technology Entrepreneurship Competition
Intellectual
Property
We anticipate
that many of the participants will have concerns about the protection
of their intellectual property. All participants including judges, administrators
of the competition and all participants will sign confidentiality agreements.
However, to limit the liability of the above, participants must ensure
that they have taken the proper steps to protect their intellectual property,
especially if it is considered critical to the evaluation of the business
plan. Securing intellectual property protection, such as patents or copyrights,
on your novel methods, devices, processes, materials, or computer software
may be a key component of your business plan.
The
university's ownership of novel technologies is determined by the circumstances
and facilities used under which the invention or software was created;
it is a “facilities-based” policy. The policy can be found
online at www.stor.buffalo.edu/home_forms
. Any public disclosure (such as publication or presentation at a conference)
before filing appropriate intellectual property protection may adversely
affect patenting or other forms of intellectual property protection. |
