Henry A. Panasci Jr. Technology Entrepreneurship Competition

Eligibility and Requirements of Applicants/Team Members

  • All team members must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
    • The University is primarily seeking participants whose innovative ideas are in the technology, life sciences and engineering industries.
    • Be currently enrolled in a matriculated degree granting program at the University at Buffalo as an undergrad, graduate, doctoral or postdoctoral student in any discipline.
    • Be a graduate of the University at Buffalo within the past five years (May 2003) in any discipline.
  • Each team must include:
    • One (1) full or part-time UB MBA Student or recent UB MBA graduate (May 2003 or later).
    • One (1) team member must be a UB full/part-time student or recent UB graduate (May 2003 or later) from a program outside of the School of Management, any discipline.
    • At least two participants per team but no more than five.
    • All team members do not have to be students/graduates of UB.
    • Teams that have already secured venture capital funding prior to January 2008 are not eligible.
    • Each team must have a UB faculty member named as a sponsor.

  • All members of the student team must schedule and attend a consultative meeting with STOR to review intellectual property elements and viability of the plan.
  • All team members must sign confidentiality agreements.
  • All team members must sign agreements of terms and submit it with their business plan.
  • After applications are received, a mentor will be assigned to each team by the PANASCI TEC committee, comprised of staff and faculty from the UB School of Management and STOR. It is suggested that all team members meet with their mentor prior to submitting their business plan.
  • A business plan writing workshop will be held on January 16, 2008. This is NOT mandatory.
