Alumni Telementor Program

The Career Resource Center, in cooperation with the School of Management Alumni Association, sponsors an Alumni Telementor program.

The Alumni Telementor program provides a way for UB School of Management students to contact UB School of Management alumni who are interested in helping students with their career planning and exploration. This is not a job referral program; rather, it is designed to provide opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students to speak with professionals to obtain career-related information such as:

  • Job duties and responsibilities
  • Career advancement paths
  • Industry developments
  • Strength of the job market
  • Professional associations
  • Names of potential employers
  • Relocation information/housing considerations

The mentor's role: telementors volunteer their time and knowledge. They serve as guides, advisors, idea generators and information providers. They may serve as a source of job leads or industry contacts but they are not recruiters and should not be expected to "get jobs" for students.

Telementor database: Interested alumni complete a telementor information form that includes the individual's name, title, employer, address, work and home (optional) telephone numbers. Information is also requested concerning the best time for students to call the individual and the career fields about which the telementor feels he/she can share information with students.

Once you submit your telementor information form, you will be sent an e-mail message containing a user name and password. This will allow you to come back to this Web site and update your information.

Update Your Telementor Information

  • Students and alumni who are interested in contacting a telementor can search the online database. They can search by career field, geographic location, employer and degree.
  • Contacting Telementors

Students initially will contact telementors by e-mail, standard mail or telephone. Often, subsequent contacts occur; telementors will let students know whether e-mail, telephone or face-to-face contact best fit into their schedule.

  • Program Evaluations

Both students and telementors are encouraged to provide feedback to the Career Resource Center concerning the quality of the Telementor program. We ask you to please complete the online evaluation form after being contacted by a student. We appreciate all the feedback and will use it to make this program better. Submit your feedback using the form below.
