Q&A

You recently earned a position at Amazon. Why did you decide to shift from health care to this new field?

After spending nearly eight years in health care, I wanted to expand my knowledge and experience a new industry.

What attracted you to the UB PMBA program?

My colleagues and friends highly recommended the program. Also, I like that the program exposes you to all the areas of business you need to understand to become a better leader.

What has been the most valuable course, advice, experience or professor in the School of Management?

Professor Dansereau’s organizational behavioral course was one of my favorites. It provided a lot of material that I use at work on a daily basis.

He broke his class down to key behavior concepts and for each concept we had to diagnose real-life situations that we encountered at the workplace and prescribe a solution.

This approach helped clarify the concepts and made them easier for me to understand. He also made it quite clear that there isn’t just one silver bullet for leaders and you can’t treat every situation the same.

Can you offer any advice to other professionals who are considering a PMBA degree?

Stop thinking about it and just apply. You won’t regret it.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to stay in the Western New York area and continue to advance my career in the health care information technology world.
