Megha Goyal at the BETAS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — University at Buffalo School of Management student Megha Goyal was named Best Student in Technology at the 2018 Buffalo Emerging Technology Awards Showcase (BETAS), held May 3 at Buffalo RiverWorks.

Goyal, a 2018 candidate in the Master of Science in Management Information Systems program, was nominated for the award by Ian Joyce, adjunct professor of management science and systems in the UB School of Management. In his “Management of Globally Distributed Networks” course, Joyce recognized Goyal as a student who distinguishes herself in technology studies, demonstrates solid academics and possesses good character.

“I nominated her because of her tenacity,” says Joyce. “She was three steps ahead of my lectures throughout the course, and demonstrated an unparalleled ability to both learn and directly apply what she had learned. I have no doubt that Megha is well on her way to becoming an elite engineer.”

Established in 2001, the BETAS recognize and celebrate Western New York organizations and individuals that set the standard for technological innovation and implementation, workplace culture and industry activism.

The UB School of Management is recognized for its emphasis on real-world learning, community and economic impact, and the global perspective of its faculty, students and alumni. The school also has been ranked by Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes and U.S. News & World Report for the quality of its programs and the return on investment it provides its graduates.
